Urwatt is an association that represents more than 500 hydroelectric facilities in Spain with capacities below 4 MW. Since there are 1,310 such installations across the country, Urwatt represents 40% of this mini-hydraulic sector, which accounts for 26% of all hydroelectric plants in Spain.
There are 1,907 hydroelectric plants in Spain (including both the special and ordinary regimes) with a total installed capacity of 17,591 MW.

68.69% of these installations have an installed capacity below 4 MW, representing only 6.92% of the total installed hydroelectric capacity.

In other words, 597 plants (which are owned by major electricity companies and corporations) account for 93.08% of the installed hydroelectric capacity in Spain.
