En 2024, la hidroel\u00e9ctrica aport\u00f3 alrededor del <strong data-start=\"486\" data-end=\"532\">13% de la electricidad producida en Espa\u00f1a<\/strong>, consolid\u00e1ndose como una de las principales energ\u00edas renovables junto con la solar y la e\u00f3lica.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"632\" data-end=\"1069\">A nivel europeo, Espa\u00f1a ocupa el <strong data-start=\"665\" data-end=\"722\">quinto puesto en volumen de generaci\u00f3n hidroel\u00e9ctrica<\/strong>, pero si observamos el porcentaje sobre el total de la producci\u00f3n el\u00e9ctrica, desciende hasta posiciones m\u00e1s intermedias, en torno al puesto 14. Pa\u00edses como <strong data-start=\"879\" data-end=\"925\">Noruega, Turqu\u00eda, Francia, Italia o Suecia<\/strong> superan ampliamente a Espa\u00f1a en dependencia de la energ\u00eda hidr\u00e1ulica, llegando incluso a cubrir m\u00e1s del 50% de su demanda en el caso noruego.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1071\" data-end=\"1450\">Pese a ello, Espa\u00f1a cuenta con <strong data-start=\"1102\" data-end=\"1129\">fortalezas estrat\u00e9gicas<\/strong> que le otorgan un papel importante en el panorama energ\u00e9tico europeo. Por ejemplo, los embalses espa\u00f1oles alcanzaron en 2025 un <strong data-start=\"1258\" data-end=\"1294\">r\u00e9cord del 73,5% de su capacidad<\/strong>, lo que equivale a m\u00e1s de 41.000 GWh de energ\u00eda almacenada. En cuencas como la del Duero, el nivel roza el 95%, cifras hist\u00f3ricas en los \u00faltimos 25 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1452\" data-end=\"1814\">Otro aspecto destacado es la <strong data-start=\"1481\" data-end=\"1504\">capacidad de bombeo<\/strong>. Espa\u00f1a dispone de 5.650 MW en centrales reversibles, lo que representa casi el 28% de la capacidad nacional y la sit\u00faa en el tercer lugar europeo.
